Project Selection

Traditional quality programs identified improvements that produced little financial or strategic benefit to the organization. The right approach to quality starts with customers and shareholders in mind, identifying, prioritizing, and managing an ongoing portfolio of improvement projects aligned to the overall business strategy to maximize business results.

To develop this pipeline of opportunities, PCA works with clients to understand their strategic objectives, break these into operational objectives at all levels of the organization, and identify those opportunities with the largest financial and strategic benefits.

Key considerations include:

  • Maximizing Existing Capacity
  • Creating Sales Growth
  • Eliminating Unnecessary Costs
  • Reducing Cycle Times
  • Improving Employee Morale
  • Maximizing Cash Flow
  • Managing Commercial Risk
  • Meeting Regulatory Requirements
  • Increasing Process Yield

Team Selection and Training

The proper selection and training of Team Leaders, Team Members, and Project Champions is critical to turning business opportunities into operational results. PCA identifies strong candidates to lead improvement teams, trains them in appropriate tools and methods, then coaches and mentors them through the critical first projects where skills, confidence, and organizational reputation are created.

Cross-functional improvement teams must also be trained to create a common mindset, approach, and language for process improvement. PCA’s proven training sessions build these attributes across the company, creating an organization-wide pool of team members available to support improvement efforts.

Improvement teams are directed and supported by strong business leaders acting as Project Champions. PCA works with Champions to help them understand the improvement process, select team leaders and projects to maximize results, and efficiently review projects to ensure they deliver the required benefits.
